Up Until Now...
Man, planning for a wedding is exhausting! Between the wedding stuff and trying to get some work done on the house, both of us are spread a bit thin, but.... we're almost done! The invitations should be going out within the next week or so. If I don't have a mailing address for you, you can expect to be hearing from me soon. Jenny just had her wisdom teeth pulled out yesterday, so she's still recovering from that. Any thoughts and prayers are more than welcome as she pulls through the healing process.
As for me.... I'm pumped. The mustang is in the shop, getting a few enhancements, as well as a spit-shine. She's gonna look almost as brilliant as the bride on the big day! My heart is pumping as I write this message (or maybe that's because I had too much coffee this morning). Either way, I'm stoked!
WooHoo!

New Post!
Holy frick. It's been ages.
So, here's what's going on. Right now, I'm sitting in an airport coffee shop in Alabama, sipping on coffee I can barely taste (because it burned my mouth a few minutes ago), waiting another 2 hours to catch my $700 flight home to Omaha. Why $700? Because the flight I thought I had was supposed to leave at 6:40 AM. Yes, the flight did leave at 6:40 AM, as did my parents and brother, but my flight left at 6:40 AM ... yesterday.
damnit.
So, now I have time to catch up on some blogging. I know I should have done this much sooner, but, as we all know, life happens. There is a TON going on in my (our) lives right now.
Yes, I said our. Jenny and I are engaged! I know... I know... "It's about time." ...whatever...
Here's how it happened:
Labor Day weekend - We both wanted to get out of town for a bit, but didn't have much options. Saturday morning, we decided to book a camp ground.... somewhere. So, Jenny, Clementine, and I hit the road. We ended up in Nebraska City at a camp ground on the river. We were the only ones camping in tents... it was awesome. We stayed there that night and cooked ourselves a nice dinner of hot dogs and chips w/ s'mores for dessert. The next morning, we decided to check out the city. If you've never been to Nebraska City, there's 3 apple orchards and a winery that provide the city with most of it's character. Nebraska City is also the home of Arbor Day. The Arbor Lodge State Park is a tribute to J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day. We stopped to let Clementine out to go potty at a spot that allowed parking right of the main trail. After getting out, we noticed this area called "The Whispering Bench". Immediately I thought of the ring I had been hiding all weekend, just hoping for the right moment. The bench was made of concrete and was about 25 yds long and was formed in somewhat of a half circle. The whole idea of the bench is that if you sit one end of the bench and whisper into it, the person sitting at the other end would hear you. We sat at the bench and began to whisper to each other. "Can you hear me?" she said. "Yes... Can you hear me?" I responded, anxious to get the question out. After observing her beautiful surroundings, she whispers to me, "This is so cool!" I respond with the normal: "Yeah, it is." Then, it just came out. "Hey, can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah." she replies.
"Will you marry me?"
Immediately, she replies, "Yes!" and follows with "Are you serious?"
We walked towards each other and we met in the middle of the momument. I bent down on one knee to present the ring. Without even looking at it, she pulls me up and embraces me. She whispers "I love you."
I take the ring out of the box and slip it on her finger and respond. "I love YOU."
Our wedding date is June 21st, 2008. Get ready.
Important thing #2: Jenny and I are about to close on our first house together! I am sooooo anxious to move into this house. I will be living in the house by myself until we get married. The house is a 1920 Dutch Colonial. It's awesome, but it does need some restoration. The previous owners painted over the original woodwork and textured some of the ceilings, so I'll be hard at work, preparing our new home for my bride.

Back to my original story... I'm in Alabama right now because my aunt (my mom's oldest sister) passed away. I am so glad I was able to come for the funeral. I love my family. Virginia, my aunt, was an extremely loud, opinionated, joyful, caring, and, most of all, a loving mother, wife, and dear friend. If any of my family reads this, remember... her love, as immense as it was, is only a fraction of a glimpse at True Love.
Well, I'm going to stop here. I'm listening to Julian Fane's album Our New Quarters. If you like ambient vocals w/ strong, droning guitar and good electronics and synth, I highly recommend it. It will change your life. (well.... at least for 43.5 minutes)

"Rockstar"
I am, of course, at work, watching as this script I’ve written runs each job. I watch as each directory that is processed shows within the Terminal window and I start to tap my fingers to the pattern that has developed as the script runs. I need to put on some music (other than the local radio station that is constantly running in the background.) I throw in the little iPod headphones and continue programming.
I have finally started to feel that I’ve settled in as an “I.T. Director”. I never really thought I would end up with this title. Personally, I always thought it would be a title that had a little edge or something that sparked more of an interest. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy what I do, but, lately, I’ve had this overwhelming urge (again) to pursue a life of creativity.
So, with that urge, I’ve started yet another band. If you’ve heard bands like Mogwai, M83, Unwed Sailor, Broken Social Scene, Portishead – you can get a small glimpse of what we’re capable of. We don’t have a name, yet, but we’re working on it. I’ll let you know when we’ve got some media to listen to. We hope to be ready by the fall. I’m excited.

What Have I Become
or rather... what I have become.
--
You know, by the grace and power of Christ, I have watched myself become a person of love and wisdom. Thank God for that. Yet, there are moments that my sinful nature will reveal itself and somehow overwhelm everything that Christ has done within my heart. Anger will again torment me and, moreover, those around me.
Today, I watched myself errupt in a brief moment over, what now seems to be, a series of diminutive requests to fix a couple printers. PRINTERS!?!
In that .05 second lapse, I new my heart had turned, yet I could not correct it. Maybe I just had no desire to correct it?
It's amazing how much time you can spend thinking about a single fraction of a second. It's also amazing how a single fraction of a second can bring a lifetime of change.
--

So, I watched Spiderman 3 this past weekend. Here's my quick opinion: Overall, I enjoyed it. It was amazing to finally see what good CGI could do to Venom. The bell tower scene - incredible! I thought the plot (or should I say, plots) dragged a bit..... ok... way too much, but how do you put years of story into a 2 hour movie? Another thing, what's up with all the "Go America" shots? Like when they slowed down the frames as Spiderman swung in front of the American Flag!?! Now that I think about it, I guess the old Spidey comics were cheesey like that too, huh? I did like how they rounded out the story about Uncle Ben's death. Though the Sandman's story was a bit too sobb-ish for me, I really like how they introduced his character. Oh and the first scene where Sandman first starts to walk - awesome.
Reading the comics, I always had a fascination with Venom. Such power, strength, intimidation..... anger. I've been seeing a lot of my "old self" lately. In everything from reading old journals to having conversations with my Dad (which, for those of you who know, even that is a sign of change) to seeing a movie. I'm axious to see what/who I will become in the years to come. I can only hope that Christ continues his work.

Here's a start
Well, I'm sitting in my 30,000 sq. ft. office by myself. It's saturday. That's why I'm alone. I hosted a little cd burning party this morning here for a couple friends of mine that are getting married soon (they decided to make mix cd's to give away at the wedding).
The general manager's computer glitched out while we were trying to burn a cd with it. That's why I'm still here. Fortunately, for me, I'm good at what I do. This is why I'm sitting in my office, alone, setting up this blogger account and writing this blog.
I've wanted to do this for quite some time, now. I've never been much of a blogger, but since it seems more and more impossible to contact people by phone as we grow older, I figured I'd use this time to my advantage. This may be the only free time I'll have until after I get back from Seattle for this thing I'm doing for work. So, for you Seattle - Portland folk, let me know when ya'll have some free time and I'll try to take a day off while I'm up there and visit. (and don't worry... I'll be calling you, too.)
Ok. This ramble is officially over. I may get use to this. I may not. We'll see. It seems that this may be the only way to keep the people I really care about informed about the what-not's in my life. I know it's the only way to find out what's going on with most of them.
